Nov 12, 2024Public Notices

If you receive a letter from the EPA titled “NOTICE OF UNKNOWN SERVICE LINE MATERIAL – IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT LEAD IN YOUR DRINKING WATER,”

The EPA is requiring every water service lines be tested for lead nationwide. The EPA is not claiming that there is lead in your drinking water; and the city wants to reassure you that the city water supply is in compliance and  meets all EPA regulations including lead;  rather, it is informing you that, since you have not conducted a home test on your service line, they cannot determine whether your individual water service lines are lead free.

This notice was required by EPA and serves as a reminder for you to examine your service lines.  Please perform a self-check of your water lines and report your results, to ensure your safety and meet inventory requirements. The link below provides directions for testing your pipes and reporting the results to the EPA.
