The DMV is expected to reopen in mid-December. We have an individual hired and in training to manage operations at the DMV.
At first, the DMV will only offer basic services. Driving tests and licenses will not be available right away, but as the new DMV staff gains experience and completes further training, the range of services offered will expand.
In the meantime, we encourage residents to take advantage of the online services provided by the State of Alaska for tasks such as renewing licenses, registrations, or any other DMV-related activities that can be completed digitally.
