South Harbor Construction Progress Update: Demolition Nearly Complete – Float Installation to Commence Saturday, January 20th
As demolition of the South Harbor reaches its final stages, construction crews from Turnagain Marine Inc. and GMC Contracting Inc. continue to build the new South Harbor.
The City of Cordova has received final approval from the Maritime Administration (MARAD) and is now clear to begin construction.
Over the next six months, barges and heavy equipment will continue to operate in and around the South Harbor. Please be mindful of construction activities and road closure signs if you are a mariner, vehicle driver, or pedestrian.
To minimize disturbance, pile driving will only occur during daylight hours. Mariners are advised to give the construction barge and vessels a wide berth and no wake in the harbor.
Crews will be working seven days a week, for twelve hours daily to ensure the harbor is ready for the 2024 fishing season.
