Cordova Regular Election 2019 General Information

Voting hours: 7:00 am to 8:00 pm

To elect:

Mayor: One (1) Mayor - For One (1) Regular, Three (3) Year Term
Seat A: One (1) City Council Member - For One (1) Regular, Three (3) Year Term
Seat F: One (1) City Council Member - For One (1) Regular, Three (3) Year Term
Seat G: One (1) City Council Member - For One (1) Regular, Three (3) Year Term

To elect:

Two (2) School Board Members - For Two (2) Regular, Three (3) Year Terms

To elect:

Two (2) CCMC Authority Board Members - For Two (2) Regular, Three (3) Year Term
One (1) CCMC Authority Board Members - For One (1), Two (2) Year Term

To declare candidacy: Any qualified voter who meets the residency and age requirements of the elective office must file, not more than eight weeks (Tuesday, January 8, 2019) and at least four weeks (Tuesday February 5, 2019) prior to the election, with the city clerk, a sworn declaration of candidacy using the declaration of candidacy form that applies to the office for which he or she is a candidate in order for the voter's name to appear on the ballot as a candidate for that elective office.
Residency and age requirements: Mayor and City Council: One year immediately preceding the election and eighteen years of age. School Board Member: One year immediately preceding the election and eighteen years of age. CCMC Authority Board of Directors: One year immediately preceding the election, eighteen years of age and able to meet the requirements in Cordova Municipal Code 15.20.010 B.
Voter registration: Voter registration applications may be obtained at City Hall or you may register online at http://www.elections.alaska.gov/ . To be qualified to vote in a regular or special city election, a voter must be: A) Qualified to vote in state elections and registered to vote in state elections at a residence address within the city limits of Cordova at least thirty days (Sunday February 3, 2019) immediately preceding the municipal election; B) A resident of the city for thirty days (Sunday February 3, 2019) immediately preceding the municipal election; and C) Not disqualified under Article V of the Alaska Constitution.
Absentee voting by mail: Submit a request for an absentee ballot by mail to: City Clerk, City of Cordova, PO Box 1210, Cordova, AK 99574; or by facsimile to 424-6000 or by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Application by mail shall be postmarked, and application by facsimile or email shall be received by the city clerk no more than 60 days (Friday January 4, 2019) or less than 7 days (Tuesday February 26, 2019) before the election. Such written request shall substantially include: voter’s residence address in Cordova; voter’s mailing address in Cordova; voter registration number; or, if not known, the voter’s social security number and date of birth; if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the address to which it should be mailed; an original signature if the application is made by mail, or a facsimile thereof if application is made by facsimile transmission or email; and the printed name of the applicant.
