Project Update
Greetings everyone,
A busy summer has kept us quiet on our project, but we’ve made a
good deal of progress and thanks to many of you – our generous supporters,
we’ve now raised over $17,000 locally through lots of events. This
is a great start to our local commitment as we begin a determined phase
of searching for funds for the Cordova Center project. Learn more ways
you can help – visit our table at the upcoming Bidarki Bazaar –
see the model of the Cordova Center!
Currently the entire project including landscaping, furnishings and construction
will cost approximately $15.5 million. The Cordova Center has been designed
as a 32,000+ square foot facility developed to serve numerous and important
needs of the community as well as spur economic development and cultural
revitalization for Cordova.

To date, nearly $4 million has been secured for the project through federal,
state and local appropriations. The land for the site of the Cordova Center
has been purchased by the City of Cordova and construction documents are
now 95% complete. Join us at a community meeting in January (tentatively
the 25th) to look at final designs, updates and have further opportunities
to comment on the project.
A workshop will be held with the City Council on the 7th of December to
kick off the winter work for the Cordova Center. The public is welcomed
and encouraged to attend. A review of the project will be presented as
well as an update on funding searches and the development of the Capital
Campaign.
Available for everyone to review now is the summary of the Cordova Center
Business Plan, estimated uses and costs; a draft rental fee agreement
and design images. Stop by the museum if you would like a copy of any
of these materials. As always, questions, comments and concerns are always
welcome – that’s what has made the project successful so far
– the participation of the community!
